A spokesperson for Iceland’s Ministry of the Interior told Breitbart News that Iceland does not intend to register any domains on the registry.
The spokesperson stated that Iceland will continue to operate as a neutral zone in the Internet domain name registration process.
This means that Icelandic domain registrars will not have to abide by the terms of service of any third party, such as the registrar of the domain, and that Iceland can continue to use a neutral registry.
The spokesperson also explained that the government will continue working with the DNS provider to ensure that all domain names on the DNS register will continue operating under the Iceland-friendly name Iceland.
